June 2000 - Rafting on the Colorado River

The Clorado River in Grand Canyon passes through three of North America's four deserts. From Glen Canyon dam to mile 39 the vegetation is that of the Great Basin Desert. From mile 39 to Havasu Canyon we find plants of the Sonoran Desert. Finally, below Havasu Canyon the plants are characteristic to the Mojave Desert. Here are some examples of the vegetation:
