| American River - South Fork |
![]() |
End of June, 1998 our entire family went whitewater rafting on 21 miles of the American River - South Fork. We, that is Vera & Shu, Ralf (Fiona couldn't make it this year), Gisela & Herbert, left the Bay Area on Friday for the "Gold Country". We pitched tents at the rafting company's campground and got a hearty breakfast on Saturday morning (also provided by the rafting company). Next we were shuttled to the Chili Bar Put-in, and then the fun started. Thanks to El Nino there was still a lot of snow melt in the Sierra, and the water conditions on the river were super perfect for rafting. At two of the rapids (Troublemaker and Satan's Cesspool) three different photographers tried to catch the action - we believe they were successful. But, see for yourself - just click on the "Forward" button above. |
